Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins walked into an online firestorm with comments she made Monday during an appearance on a podcast hosted by right-wing Trump worshiper Benny Johnson’s podcast, suggesting that Americans need to stop worrying about the high price of beef and learn to love “alternatives.”
“If [beef] is too expensive, unlike fuel, you can eat chicken, pork, salmon, eggs… there are other sources of really good protein, and all of those prices are coming down as well.”
She continued, “And listen, I’m a mom of four, I’m still feeding a whole bunch of kids, very hungry kids. We realize the price of groceries are too high. We’re doing everything we can to bring them down after the Biden years of crazy, crazy inflation.”
Joe Biden hasn’t been president for nearly two years now, but Trump and his MAGA disciples continue to blame him for everything they’ve screwed up beyond all recognition. Interest rates going up? Gotta be Biden’s fault. Kids dying of measles? Damn that Joe Biden! Can’t afford beef? Yet another thing Biden did wrong.
Reaction to Rollins’ comments was harsh and snarky, which is the perfect combination for a jackass like her.
What’s next? Will Secretary Rollins advise to eat our elderly relatives when they die? Then again, maybe we shouldn’t give these maniacs any ideas.
