GOP Sen. Mike Lee (UT) is being taken to task online for a posting he made on social media comparing Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) to the late NFL player and accused murderer OJ Simpson, who was suspected of killing his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, but was later acquitted in what some called the “trial of the century.”
Lee used his post to suggest that Warren was responsible for the financial collapse of Spirit Airlines. Warren had blocked the merger of Spirit with JetBlue, but the defunct airline recently blamed its financial problems more on the high cost of jet fuel, thanks to Donald Trump’s foolhardy war with Iran, rather than its failed merger bid.

It’d be nice to think that Sen. Lee will see the error of his ways, apologize, and take down his tweet. But the chances of a Republican ever apologizing for anything in the Age of Trump are nonexistent. Why? Because they enjoy being deplorable douchebags.
UPDATE, 5:48 PM EST: Lee has indeed deleted his tweet, but he didn’t apologize. In other words, he’s still an asshole.
