CNN’s Kaitlan Collins is calling bullsh*t on so-called “President” Donald Trump’s claims that the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool has turned green because “vandals” have taken a knife and cut its “American blue lining.”
“They cut it up good,” Trump added. “And then they cut it 200, 350-foot slips in the form of lots of little slips, a real horrible stuff.”
After playing a video clip of Trump making his accusation, Mediaite reports, Collins noted that Donnie hadn’t provided any evidence to support his specious claim, even though numerous security cameras around the Lincoln Memorial would have shown the alleged vandalism.
Oh, and then there’s the matter of a remark Trump made in May in which he proudly proclaimed it would be “impossible” for anyone to cut the lining with a knife.
“This will last for at least 50 years,” Trump bragged on May 4. “You’ll never have a leak. It’s very strong. You couldn’t, if you had a knife—I don’t want to give anybody ideas—if you had a knife, you can’t even cut it. So strong, so powerful, it’s like powerful rubber. It is beautiful. Sealed.”
Nope. It didn’t even last a month, mainly because painting the bottom of the pool blue was the dumbest thing possible when it comes to combating algae. The blue attracts sunlight, which causes algae to bloom and flourish on the top of the water.
Trump and his no-bid contractor are solely responsible for the reflection pool fiasco. And as usual, someone else will have to pay for Donald’s massive mistake. Who? The person you see when you look in the mirror.
