The question is being asked more and more often, largely because so-called “President” Donald Trump keeps bragging: Why is the U.S. head of state taking so many cognitive tests?
According to Dr. Vin Gupta, who appeared on MS NOW earlier this morning, the frequency of cognitive tests being administered to Trump suggests his physicians are already deeply troubled by signs of mental decline.
Earlier this morning, Trump again bragged that he had passed yet another mental acuity test, posting on social media,” The results of my Physical Examination, taken at Walter Reed Military Medical Center, and just released, were extremely good. Unlike other U.S. Presidents, none of whom have ever taken an approved, high difficulty, Cognitive Test, I scored a perfect 30 out of 30, considered “extreme intelligence.” Are the Dumocrats really surprised? In fact, this is my fourth such test, all PERFECT or, 120 correct answers out of 120 questions asked! It is very rare that anyone gets a Perfect Score, especially when achieved four times in a row. All people running for President and Vice President should be forced to take high difficulty Cognitive Tests. Congress, and the Dumocrats, should demand it! President DONALD J. TRUMP”
But Dr. Gupta was not the least bit impressed with the president’s boasting.
“This is a screening tool, at a very high level, for early signs of cognitive decline or dementia,” he said. “It is not something that assesses the ability to do the world’s hardest job under pressure — executive functioning. It is not that tool. It’s not a neuropsychiatric test.”
Gupta was also dubious regarding the difficulty of the test.
“I don’t think a lot of people find it to be terribly difficult, as he describes it.”
Also, there’s the matter of who is asking that so many tests be administered to Trump.
“It’s something that if we’re getting it frequently, say every four to six weeks, like it seems like they’re doing, that is something that is used to surveil an underlying condition in typical scenarios. In this case, this is not a test you routinely would otherwise do with this type of frequency.”
And then there’s the odd statement issued by Trump’s doctors, which also raised red flags for Gupta, who noted, “This is not professional medical language that you use to describe somebody’s physical condition.”
In other words, it was written by White House spin doctors, none of whom are physicians.
Donald Trump is not well, mentally or physically. He’ll be 80 years old in a few days and appears to be slipping into a haze of confusion.
Alzheimer’s disease runs in Trump’s family and killed his father. Is the commander-in-chief also succumbing to the dreaded illness? And if so, how long do we have to wait before those around him sound the alarm and remove him from office?
