As he faces multiple crises on the domestic and foreign policy front, Donald Trump appears to have completely lost the ability to “comprehend” what’s going on around him, which makes him a danger to the United States, the world, and his political allies.
That’s the analysis of MS NOW’s Jonathan Lemire, who shared his thoughts on Trump and his administration this morning.
The war in Iran, Lemire noted, is not going according to plan. Neither is the economy, which is struggling to gain ground as fuel prices, exacerbated by the Iran attacks, are raising prices across the board. Add to that the ongoing budget impasse that is causing travel delays across the nation as TSA agents go without paychecks, and you suddenly have a quagmire of epic proportions.
“This is another example of the president simply being detached from what’s actually going on,” Lemire said. “We have chronicled for a year and a half now that even more than most presidents, this one lives in a bubble; he only hears good news. No aide ever gives him something that’s going to be upsetting. We’ll get into it later.”
“The story from NBC about how he’s basically given a highlight reel of war videos. He just sees explosions, and there’s some questions as to how much he’s really comprehending what is going on in that conflict,” he elaborated. “And this is another moment where he’s bought into this idea that ICE, though he recognizes some of the mass deportations have gone poorly politically, he still believes in ICE. He still, every day on Truth Social, three or four times yesterday, supporting them, supporting their efforts and trying to blame Democrats for what we’re seeing here. But all polls suggest it’s not working, and his party is going to pay the price this November.”
Earlier this week, we learned that Dementia Don has the lowest economic approval ratings of the 20th century, leading CNN data analyst to warn, “Look at this, 21st century presidents’ economic net approval ratings at this point in term two. Among Independents, Trump is 48 points underwater, just…one in four Independents say that they approve of the job that he is doing when it comes to the economy. His net approval rating on the economy among independents, twice as bad as Barack Obama’s was at this point — who was 25 points underwater — and double-digits worse than George W. Bush was among Independents, according to CBS News at this point, when it comes to the economy.”
Trump is an existential threat to the United States and the world. He needs to be removed from office. And the first step to making that a reality begins at the ballot box in November.
