When he dismissed Kristi Noem from her post as Secretary of Homeland Security on Thursday, Donald Trump may have also guaranteed that she’ll face serious criminal charges based on testimony she gave to Congress regarding a $220 million advertising campaign for the department.
The New York Post reports that what prompted Trump to dismiss Noem was something she said under oath before the Senate Oversight Committee.
“President Trump said Thursday that Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem lied to Congress about getting his approval for a $220 million ad campaign featuring herself.”
“I never knew anything about it,” Trump told Reuters.
“Two sources close to the White House told The Post that Trump was furious that Noem testified that he approved of the ads — and set in motion his later move to fire her.”
Trump’s comments, analysts note, are going to be a major legal issue for Noem in the months ahead.
Democratic strategist Matt McDermott explained: “The President of the United States is accusing Kristi Noem of committing perjury, a federal crime.”

Former Politico reporter Rachel Bade also weighed in.
“NOEM screwed up DHS response to Pretti killing, stonewalled IG investigations, has seen allegations of inappropriate relations with aide Lewandowski, bought luxury jet fleet, and spent a ton on ads starring hers truly. But in the end the thing that did her in was throwing her boss under the bus.”

ICE Barbie had better hope she has a good attorney. Or maybe she can beg Dementia Don for a pardon. Of course, she’d probably have to be on her knees for that one.
