GOP Sen. Josh Hawley of Missouri — a.k.a. “The Running Man” as he’s known for his cowardly actions at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021 — got more than he bargained for during a hearing today when he tired to bully Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison and accuse him of committing fraud with federal funds.
“Are you the chief law enforcement officer of Minnesota?” he asked Ellison.
Ellison rolled his eyes at the query, which angered Hawley.
“You said, let’s go fight these people, meaning the people who are investigating the fraud,” Hawley added.
Ellison: “You let me answer, and I’ll answer you.”
“Tell the truth, and I’ll let you answer,” Hawley griped.
“I will tell the truth,” Ellison countered.
“Good,” Hawley quipped. “That’d be a nice change.”
“Mr. Chairman, I didn’t come here to be insulted. I came here voluntarily.”
Hawley: “Oh, BS.”
Ellison: “You’re the one talking BS.”
Hawley then made a big mistake with his next comment.
“It’s my hearing, pal,” he told Ellison, to which Ellison shot back, “Don’t call me pal.”
“Well, I should call you a prisoner because you ought to be in jail!” Hawley screeched.
“Well, we’ll see what you can do about it,” Ellison remarked.
“You’ve been right at the center of this fraud thing from the beginning,” Hawley said. “And, sir, you should resign.”
“And, sir, you should resign,” Ellison replied. “I was thinking the same thing about you. You should resign.”
“I’m sure after encountering this truth, you are,” Hawley said.
Like nearly every elected Republican in this country, Josh Hawley is just a bloviating bully who thinks he can push people around with his accusations and lies. But as Keith Ellison proved, when you push back on a bully, they always reveal their true colors.
Hawley is a coward and now wants us to think he’s a tough guy. Sorry, Josh, but you’ll always be known as the scared little weasel who ran like a frightened kitten on January 6.
