California Gov. Gavin Newsom isn’t afraid to take on Donald Trump or members of his administration, and now he’s proving that he’ll also clap back at the spouses of White House officials who choose to attack him online.
Newsom aimed his barbs at Katie Miller, the wife of Deputy White House Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, a.k.a. Pee Wee German, who got her facts messed up when she tried to troll the governor on social media.
The governor wished his state a happy and prosperous 2026, writing, “California, let’s make this year a big one.”

That led Miller to respond, “Tomorrow is one year since the Palisades fire. Not a single home has been rebuilt.”

Not a single home has been rebuilt. https://t.co/1YCyzGQN3D
However, Miller got the date wrong, and Newsom gladly pounced on her error, noting, “The anniversary is Wednesday — not tomorrow — Katie. Oof.” He added: “With $22.4 billion in insurance payouts and 2,617 permits approved by locals, multiple homes have been rebuilt. LA’s recovery is one of the fastest in modern history — and there is MUCH more we need to do!”
While he was at it, Newsom also aimed a barb at Miller, posting this fake Russian passport featuring Miller and chiding her for suggesting that the United States would soon invade Greenland:

The governor got plenty of support on social media, with users cheering his replies. Take a look:

The date January 6th holds a special place in her cold, dead heart.
This is the Katie Miller content formula.

Step 1: pick a real wound.
Step 2: shave off the facts.
Step 3: declare “nothing has happened.”
But the facts are public. The fire began January 7, 2025.
The first rebuilt home received a certificate of occupancy November 21, 2025.…
