Speaking to top leaders of the U.S. military on Tuesday morning at Quantico, Virginia, Donald Trump issued a direct threat to the military brass who refused to applaud his speech, suggesting that their silence would be held against them.
“I never walked into a room so silent before,” Trump remarked. “If you want to applaud you applaud. You can do anything you want. If you don’t like what I’m saying, you can leave the room. There goes your rank and there goes your future.”
Trump’s comments came shortly after Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth insulted the gathering, whining about “fat generals” and “dudes in dresses.”
