Former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki says she’s been watching the press briefings conducted by the person who currently has her job, Karoline Leavitt, and couldn’t resist critiquing them.
“I have noticed the White House briefing room has taken a bit of a bizarro turn lately. And I figured, what the hell, it’s a Friday night. Why not dust off the cobwebs and field a few questions from the White House press briefing room today? Because it’s been a while.”
Using real questions that had been asked of Leavitt earlier in the day, Psaki responded to the media “without the MAGA spin.”
For example: Why did the White House announce a trade deal with the United Kingdom before all of the details had been fleshed out? Wasn’t that putting the proverbial cart before the horse?
“The announcement and the headlines it generates are pretty much the point,” Psaki said. “The details are kind of secondary. I mean, Trump gets to put on a show in the Oval Office and pretend like he’s achieved a monumental victory. The deal is just a bit of an empty shell.”
An empty shell. Yes! Exactly! And the emptiest shell of all is none other than Donald Trump himself. He’s a man who is all flash and no substance. He makes headlines, but there’s no substance to what he says and does. He’s the 21st century’s P.T. Barnum, but instead of actually putting on a show, Trump belches and farts out mindless words that have no meaning to anyone but him.
There is no trade deal with the UK. There’s also no plan for how to stave off the recession that his trade war is causing. There’s only smoke and mirrors, cheap fireworks, and empty rhetoric.
Donald Trump is a walking, talking bullshit machine. And his act is wearing thin, even among those who voted for him. He’s running out of distractions, and that suggests he’s just about finished politically. His downfall is good news for the country, even if it does mean we’ll have to listen to more of his lies.
