Even though he loves playing footsie with right-wing “Christian” extremists, Donald Trump only worships one god: Himself.
Donald proved that to be the case once again during his remarks at the White House Easter prayer service this week, which turned into a self-congratulatory exercise in verbal onanism.
Trump began his comments with a brief mention of the Christian deity, but then took a turn in the road that led right back to himself.
“With God’s grace over these past three months—and we have had a great three months; they say maybe the best three months ever for a president and an administration,” Trump said. “We’ve achieved more than most administrations do in four years or even eight years.”
“I think there’s a whole new spirit in our country,” he added.
The United States was “not respected” when Joe Biden was in the White House, Trump asserted.
“I think November fifth did a lot to get that respect, frankly,” he added. “I think it was a big day, I hope it’s going to go down as one of the most important days in the history of our country.”
Oh, and there was also the obligatory mention of anti-Christian bias in the country, despite the fact that no such thing exists.
“You don’t hear about that very much, but there is anti-Christian bias.”
While he was at it, Trump also boasted about being an anti-LGBTQ bigot.
“I banned men from women’s sports, seems easy. And I signed an executive order making it official.”
Then came the pivot back to the actual purpose of the event: Easter.
“This is really—I hope—going to be one of the great Easters ever, because we have something going that I don’t think this country has seen in 100 years,” he said. “And as we gather with family and friends, we’ll not forget the true source of our joy and our strength: America has put our trust in God. It will always be ‘In God We Trust.’ We will never change that.”
All fall to their knees and praise King Donald! He has made it cool to hate again in America. All praise be to him!
If you’re actually a Christian and that doesn’t disgust you, then you really need to reexamine what you call your “faith.”
