A hearing of the House DOGE (Department of Government Affairs) subcommittee devolved into complete mayhem when a Democratic member of the panel accused Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) of repeatedly ignoring parliamentary procedure.
Greene spoke out of turn after a Democrat on the committee slammed Donald Trump.
“No one loves veterans more than President Trump, and he’s made that apparent,” Greene said. “That’s why he’s working for peace.”
Rep. Melanie Stansbury (D-NM) immediately reminded Greene it wasn’t her turn to speak.
“Madam Chair. Madam Chair,” Stansbury noted. “It’s not your time.”
An enraged Greene replied, “I’m the chair of this committee!” as she repeatedly banged her gavel.
“That’s not how parliamentary procedure works,” Stansbury informed Greene.
“You’re not recognized, Ms. Stansbury,” Greene snapped.
“You’re not recognized either,” Stansbury reminded Greene. “You can’t just speak anytime you want.”
Greene: “I’m the chair of this committee.”
“That’s not how it works,” Stansbury stated. “Madam Chairwoman, that is not part of it. You can smash your gavel all day, but that’s not how parliamentary procedure is. We’re going to get you a Robert’s Rules of Order.”
Greene finally relented, yielding to Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX).
