Pollster Predicts Disgraced Trump Will Resign After Midterm Shellacking

Now that he has caused his party to lose control of the House and Senate (along with legislatures in several once-solidly red states), Donald Trump is the lamest of ducks, and his chances of doing anything the least bit productive over the last two years of his presidential term are slim to none, could he decide to bow out and resign from this presidency?

That’s the prediction being made by pollster Nate Silver, who appeared on the “Still Counting,” podcast.

Silver noted that Republicans made “a deal with the devil” in Trump, adding, “I don’t mean that to mean that he’s evil. The party got what it wanted on the packing the courts and slashing taxes, he said, but at one hell of a price as the election returns showed.

“You get your three Supreme Court justices, you get tax breaks for the wealthy, but you pay a lot of f—ing price for that.”

That led Silver to say, “I mean, that’s part of why I had just a weird intuition that maybe Trump will find some pretense to, to quit, you know what I mean?Because he could get very, very, very isolated, and that also could make him dangerous.”

“He has no f—ing leverage,” he added. “I mean, he has some leverage; he’s the president of the United States, right? He has leverage with our allies and things like that, but Republicans —”

Let’s see how the 2028 election goes. He has lost the fear factor.”

“We’ll see if Pete Hegseth survives this. We’ll see if Stephen Miller survives this,” he said.

Would Donnie just bow out and leave the heavy lifting to Vance? If he did, that could potentially make or break Vance’s chances of ever being elected head of state in his own right. And he’d also get the blame if the economy tanked in the last two years of the administration.

Also, resigning would require Trump to admit that he isn’t up to the job, and for a man as egotistical as he is, that might be a fate worse than death. Failure is every egotists greatest fear.
