Considering the torrent of lies, misinformation, and outright BS that emanates from the Trump administration on an hourly basis, it’s easy for some of the White House verbal diarrhea to go unchallenged.
However, something White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said at her Wednesday press briefing did not slip by, probably because it was so blatantly bogus that it could have made even a Trump supporter cringe.
Leavitt was attempting to defend remarks from Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, who suggested that rising gas prices due to the war with Iran were merely a “small bit of economic pain” that would prove worth the pain at the pump.
“This is a short-term disruption for the long-term strategic goal of the United States to ensure that the world’s leading state sponsor of terror cannot obtain a nuclear weapon,” Leavitt told reporters. “That’s a good thing for the American people.”
“Thank goodness we have a president in an administration that believes in American energy dominance, in bringing down prices at the pump,” she added. “Look at how gas prices decreased over the past year since this president was in office.”

There’s a problem with Leavitt’s statement: To quote her boss, it’s “fake news.”
Gas prices are up more than $1 a gallon since the United States and Israel launched a war against Iran in February
The press secretary received a brutal fact-check on social media.
