Right-wing CNN political commentator Scott Jennings currently leads the list of likely replacements for White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, according to a report from The Daily Beast, which also notes that others are being considered for the post.
“Jennings, known for his argumentative and childish appearances defending Trump on CNN, has a history of working in public relations and served in the George W. Bush administration as a special assistant to the president and deputy director of political affairs.”
“The top Trump ally also previously worked as an adviser to missing Sen. Mitch McConnell, 84, and worked on several of the Kentucky Republican’s re-election campaigns.”
During an appearance on CNN’s NewsNight Wednesday, Jennings was asked if he was interested in replacing Leavitt, to which he responded, “Karoline Leavitt has been maybe the greatest White House press secretary in the last 30 years, at least. She’s been nothing short of brilliant. I don’t know a single Republican in the country who isn’t in awe of and in appreciation of Karoline tonight. So Godspeed on your journey back to your family. You’ve done great stuff.”
Among the other names being bandied around to replace Leavitt are Trump’s former defense attorney, Alina Habba, deputy press secretary Anna Kelly, podcaster Katie Miller, who is married to top Trump administration deputy Stephen Miller, White House communications director Steven Cheung, Trump’s former White House deputy chief of staff for communications Taylor Budowich, and Matthew Boyle, who is currently Washington bureau chief for right-wing news site Breitbart.
Dark horse candidates include Trump’s daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, and White House aide/diaper attendant Natalie Harp, who is reportedly the so-called “president’s” favorite staffer and is constantly seen with him wherever he goes.
Too bad they can’t just resurrect former Nazi propaganda chief Joseph Goebbels. He’d be perfect for the gig.
