According to both Attorney General Pam Bondi and her chief deputy at the DOJ, Todd Blanche, the department has now released all of the files in their possession related to the activities, associates, and crimes of the late sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein, and there will not be any further disclosure or discussion of the matter.
However, as with nearly everything with the Trump administration, it turns out the truth is significantly different from the public assertions of full compliance with the law.
A blockbuster report from U.K.-based broadcaster Channel 4 News suggests that DOJ has only produced 2% of the files that deal with Epstein.
“Analysis by Channel 4 News has identified emails within the latest Epstein files that suggest that the mountain of information released by the US Department of Justice could amount to just a fraction of the total – potentially just 2% of the information that the FBI retrieved from Epstein’s homes.”
“Epstein survivors have told Channel 4 News that they believe that the Trump administration has failed to meet their request to release all the files.”
Here’s the full report:
Channel 4’s U.S. editor, Asnushka Asthana noted, “They claimed that 6 million pages were identified, including duplicates — they released over 3 million,” the broadcaster’s U.S. editor. Both those numbers are tiny compared to the amount collected according to today’s emails.”
“Many files are too large to open… There are many files that are completely invisible to us.”
Another member of the investigative reporting team concurred: “Imagine if we had seized the papers from approximately 100,000 filing cabinets. Then that all just got dumped in one big pile. Documents that had multiple parts stapled together got separated. And then any of those documents that was larger than 100 pages couldn’t be opened. That’s what we’ve got.”
And yet, two days ago AG Bondi declared that Justice had “released all ‘records, documents, communications and investigative materials.'”
Sounds like Ms. Bondi may have lied under oath when she testified before the House Judiciary Committee last week, which would open her up to contempt of Congress charges and possible criminal indictment.
What could the DOJ be trying to keep from Congress, Epstein survivors, and the American public? Probably the full details of just how deeply Donald Trump may have been involved with Epstein and others who abused multiple children over the past few decades. And since there’s no statute of limitations on those crimes, Trump and others could be prosecuted and imprisoned if they’re found guilty.
It may be President’s Day here in the United States, but the current resident of the White House dishonors every president who has ever served with his continued refusal to come clean about exactly how well he knew his late BFF and what role he played in illegal acts against kids.
