Vice President JD Vance is in hot water for comments he made about Pope Leo during an appearance on Fox News Tuesday evening, and some are even suggesting that Vance should be excommunicated from the Catholic Church for his latest attack on the pontiff.
Speaking with Fox host Laura Ingraham, Vance said the pope needed to steer a path on the issue of immigration similar to the one advocated by the Trump administration and other hardliners in the Republican Party.
“I don’t see Pope Leo as an anti-capitalist. I do think some of the things that have come out of the Vatican on the immigration issue, in particular, have been troubling,” Vance told Ingraham. “What I would hope the Catholic leadership has learned from some of the things that me and Marco [Rubio] and the president have said about immigration is, it’s not just about the dignity of the immigrant, it’s about the dignity of the native born.”

The dignity of the native born, huh? In that case, the only true American citizens would be Native Americans, who were here long before Vance or any other white Anglo-Saxon stepped foot on what later became the United States.
This is a nation of immigrants. And to suddenly decide it shouldn’t be that anymore is a slap in the face of everyone who proclaims that they’re “native born.” JD Vance’s ancestors came from somewhere other than the United States. Same with Donald Trump’s. And mine, and yours, and at least 95% of the people who currently reside in this country.
It didn’t take long before Vance was lit up on social media, and Pope Leo was urged to cut Vance from the Catholic flock.
Hopefully soon to be excommunicated

The gall of a convert lecturing the POPE on religion.

Pope Leo is going to continue to speak out publicly about the plight of the poor and the refugees as all Popes in modern times have done. Maybe JD is the one who needs to learn a few lessons about how the pontiff's role works.

But the stranger who dwelleth with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself, for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.

You have to have some deep, unregistered pretentiousness to try to dunk on the pope

Come on, Pope Leo. Excommunicate him. Do it for me
