Unless you live in Iowa or follow national politics at the granular level, you’ve probably never heard of Ashley Hinson. She’s the Republican candidate running for the U.S. Senate seat in the deep red state of Iowa.
As you’d expect from a GOPer in the Age of Trump, Hinson has only positive things to say about the Rapist-in-Chief, Donald Trump, claiming when she announced her Senate campaign in September 2025, that she was honored to fight alongside him to “transform the America First agenda into our America First future” and promising to be his “strongest ally.”
But times are tough economically, and now Hinson is having to grovel before her supporters and beg them for contributions so she can gas up her campaign bus, which likely uses diesel fuel, and is now $6.33 a gallon on average across the country. Hinson, who currently serves in the House of Representatives, has repeatedly voted against ending Trump’s never ending war with Iran, which is the main reason diesel and other fuel is priced so high.
“Use that anger about these lies that they’re telling about us on TV, cause if they’re willing to lie about me, they’re willing to lie about you. So I want you to channel that into action in getting your friends out to vote, help give us a little gas money for our bus, make sure we’re showing up at the polls, because there is more to do,” Hinson said during a campaign stop in Fort Dodge.

Hey, Ashley, how about you put on your sneakers and hoof it to your next campaign stop. If you can’t afford the price of fuel for your bus, maybe you need to suspend your campaign or get a second job to pay your expenses.
Hinson’s begging didn’t sit well with those who saw her comments online.
“I can’t even afford gas, but vote republican and the dumbass decisions we make.”

It takes a lot of gall for a politician to to ask something like this considering Americans can't even afford to buy gas themselves

It's like y'all are making “robbing from the American people” a damn sport.

Why don't you ask the owner of the boots you keep licking. pic.twitter.com/iMdnNCUs0W
Why is it if a homeless person begs for money people look down on them, but politicians beg for money and it’s somehow noble?

Self-enriching entitled woman begs for money to fill gas tank due to astronomical fuel price related to her votes to support Trump's war is quite the headline.

It’s rare you see irony and karma in one statement, but here we are.
