According to so-called “President” Donald Trump, there’s absolutely no need to regulate artificial intelligence (AI), despite warnings from some in the AI industry who are warning that the technology could one day destroy the world.
As some in Congress put forth legislation that would rein in AI, Trump declared Monday that he has the matter under control, writing on his financially-troubled Truth Social site, “The people that say AI is going to destroy the World, and that Data Centers are bad for your neighborhood, are the same people that said, just a short time ago, that the World would be extinguished by ‘Climate Change.’ That HOAX never worked out for them, and now they’re on to the next one.”
He also posted this extended rant regarding artificial intelligence:
“Concerning AI, when, in the History of Business, did anyone see the Leaders of an Industry call for Regulation that, if strongly implemented, will drive them into oblivion and bankruptcy? AI taking over the World, destroying Humanity, and all other things bad, is a HOAX, no different from RUSSIA, RUSSIA, RUSSIA — UKRAINE, UKRAINE, UKRAINE — IMPEACHMENT HOAX #1 — IMPEACHMENT HOAX #2 — and all of the other HOAXES and SCAMS that America was forced to endure through the Destructionists’ and Deviants’ foul play and illegal conduct. President Xi, of China, just announced that China will be doing absolutely nothing to stand in the way of AI, or its future. Google has recently stated that they want to build a massive Plant in Finland, all because they are finding permitting too difficult in the United States. I am not happy about this, and want them to change their thinking. AI, and Data Centers, will be the Greatest Economic Development Engine in History — Bigger than Oil, Gold, Diamonds, or even the Internet. It will not be stopped by brilliantly run Destructive Forces during the Term of President DONALD J. TRUMP!”
That led MS NOW host Lawrence O’Donnell to ask Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-GA) Monday evening on The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell what a president should do about artificial intelligence.
“This is a moment that calls for wise and capable leadership,” Ossoff replied, calling for tech CEOs to testify “immediately” before Congress, as well as having mandatory inspections of their sites.
Trump won’t do that, Ossoff added, because he’s “conflicted.”
“But Donald Trump basically says we’re gonna sit on our hands and hope for the best. And remember, he’s conflicted.”
Referencing 1789 Capital, the venture capital firm where Donald Trump Jr. is a partner, Ossoff noted, “They’ve invested heavily in AI labs. They’ve invested heavily in data centers. So the first family has a financial stake in this industry. And as a result, the President of the United States is compromised.”
The entire Trump family is conflicted, Ossoff explained.
“We are witnessing people drunk with power, who are utterly reckless, utterly corrupt, and obviously believe that they live with impunity. They believe they’re untouchable. They believe they’re invincible.”

If the very people who are working in the AI industry is worried, shouldn’t we all be? Not according to Donald Trump. Of course, it’s worth noting that Trump is one of the dumbest people on the planet and in failing health. All he’s worried about is making as much money as possible while he’s in office and trying to stave off the Grim Reaper.
