White House Mocked For Bragging That Trump Is Stopping Hurricanes

Desperate to claim some accomplishment for Donald Trump as polls show support for him fading with the midterm elections now just two months away, the White House thought this would the perfect time to credit the Rapist-in-Chief for preventing the formation of any hurricanes in the Atlantic Ocean so far this year.

Trump’s communication team was cited by influencer Chris Martz as announcing that no hurricanes had formed in the Atlantic as of Saturday, Sept. 12.

However, as The Daily Beast notes, the reason for no hurricanes so far this year is because of another weather phenomenon.

“The record-setting stretch of calm is driven by El Niño, a consequential climate pattern in which surface winds weaken and shift direction, strangling tropical storms before they intensify into hurricanes, according to NOAA.”

“’I don’t think anyone really foresaw it being this quiet,’ Brian McNoldy, a hurricane expert at the University of Miami, told PBS. ‘This is quite remarkable.'”

Social media also lit up with chiding and mockery for the dubious claim that Trump should be thanked for the absence of hurricanes.
