As polls continue to show that Donald Trump’s war of choice with Iran is deeply unpopular with the vast majority of voters, regardless of their political affiliation, it’s only a matter of time before the Rapist-in-Chief starts looking for someone inside his administration that he can blame for the fiasco and dump in an attempt to distance himself from the growing foreign policy debacle.
The three most likely candidates who could be pushed out of the administration to shield Trump as the midterm elections approach are Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth.
According to MS NOW’s Jonathan Lemire, the most likely candidate to see himself out of a job in the near future is Hegseth.
Hegseth “still, I am told, is liked by the president,” Lemire said this morning on the network.
However, Lemire continued, Hegseth “does not have that many fans in the administration otherwise,” and it’s “been the case from the very beginning, from even the transition when we wasn’t very truthful with the vetting teams about some of the issues in his past.”
While Hegseth does continue to have Trump’s support, Lemire noted, “I am told that if this continues to bog down, whether it’s a low-level conflict or a high-intensity resumption of war, for months, Trump will eventually look for a fall guy, and it’s hard to imagine it being anyone other than Pete Hegseth.”
Hegseth is a loose cannon, as he proved again Tuesday when he testified before the Senate Appropriations Committee.
At one point during the hearing, the defense chief was asked by Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-GA), “You said, ‘Operation Epic Fury was a historic and overwhelming victory.’ You said Iran’s military had been rendered ‘combat-ineffective for years to come,’ and you stated we had ‘achieved every single objective.’ Were those accurate statements?”
Rather than respond to the senator’s question, Hegseth hemmed and hawed, suggesting there had been a “historic military victory over Iran,” but did little to actually respond to Ossoff.
Hegseth is about to be tossed overboard by Trump. After all, Donnie can never ever admit that he’s to blame.
