Even though he spoke for nearly two full hours — the longest State of the Union address on record — Donald Trump spent large portions of his Tuesday evening speech lingering over violent incidents that he described in nauseating detail about people who had been killed by immigrants, which led MS NOW host Rachel Maddow to dub Donnie’s harangue “violence porn.”
Shortly after Trump had concluded his seemingly endless speech, Maddow observed, “(Trump) ended up slowing down a lot and particularly slowing down markedly for long stretches of the speech that were essentially sort of violence porn.”
He “talked about people being covered in blood, gushing blood, blood pouring out of things” and “people being on the edge of death,” she continued.
He also “went into graphic detail on a number of different people’s injuries of a various kind” as he “tried to give seemingly as much sort of gory detail as he could, talking about very bloody scenes,” she added.
It was a “sort of violently pornographic riffing that the president did very slowly throughout the back half of his speech.”
Now that his polling numbers are in the toilet and American voters are expressing their disgust with him and his actions, Trump is resorting to the GOP fallback positions of fear, hatred, and bigotry. They’re desperate, and it’s no exaggeration to say that Donnie and his Republican co-conspirators will likely unleash a wave of bloodshed against the country in a last-ditch effort to steal the midterm elections.
