Donald Trump Now Viewed As A ‘Failure And Would-Be Dictator’ By Voters

His approval rating of 39% is the lowest in 80 years. The American economy is heading toward a recession, and the courts are repeatedly ruling against his authoritarian executive orders.

But perhaps the greatest threat to Donald Trump after his first 100+ days in office is that voters overwhelmingly say he’s a failure and they are disgusted with his efforts to act like a dictator instead of a leader who represents the people.

That’s the view from an enlightening report from David Smith of The Guardian, who suggests that Trump may already be a lame duck president even though he has over three and a half years remaining in his term.

Polling shows the full extent of Trump’s collapse among voters across the political spectrum, with pollster John Zogby noting, “The honeymoon is over. He actually squandered his hundred days, perhaps you can argue, by doing too much, not succeeding with much of it and overplaying his hand. At the end of the 100 days his polling numbers reflect an unsuccessful quarter. Every poll that I know of, including mine, has him upside down.”

Ironically, the issue that propelled him to a second term in office — the economy — is now dragging him down, with his trade tariffs resulting in rising prices on nearly everything consumers buy.

“His haphazard trade war rattled allies and wiped trillions of dollars off the stock market. Only fears of a bond market catastrophe spooked him into hitting the pause button. But he left in place tariffs on China as high as 145% and Beijing has refused to blink.”

None of this bodes well for Trump or Republicans, and even his supporters say they’re dismayed by what they’ve seen from the Donald so far.

“The chaos has shaken the faith of Trump voters who felt that he would at least deliver economic competence and guarantee the bottom line. Food prices are rising and tariffs are expected to disrupt supply chains soon, leading to empty shelves reminiscent of the Covid-19 pandemic. On Wednesday Trump admitted children might ‘have two dolls instead of 30 dolls’ at Christmas and sought to blame his predecessor Joe Biden.”

With even more challenges yet to come for Trump in the months ahead, especially in the foreign policy arena, it’s safe to say that by the time summer rolls around, he could well be looking at the lowest polling numbers in history and calls for his removal from office.

Americans hate failure, and Donald Trump has the stink of it all over him.
