Is she or isn’t she? That’s the question being asked almost every day when it comes to whether or not Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) might run for the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination.
Recently, Ocasio-Cortez, who is often referred to as AOC, has been holding rallies in traditonally red states with Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and drawing huge crowds of 20,000+ people at each venue.
But does that mean she’s actively seeking to be president as soon as 2028? She was asked that question by a Fox News reporter. She replied, “Listen. Frankly, I think what people should be most concerned about is the fact that Republicans are trying to cut Medicaid right now and people’s healthcare is in danger. And that’s really what my central focus is.”

Well, she didn’t rule it out. But she also didn’t say she was.
Would Ocasio-Cortez be a good candidate for the White House? It’s too early to say, but her willingness to speak her mind and success story are certainly the sort of things voters look for in a leader.
And if you’re going by public interest, the video of her response has now been viewed nearly a half million times on social media.
