Hegseth On The Hot Seat After US Airman Dies In ‘Pointless’ Military Stunt At Football Game

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is being criticized for allowing a military stunt at a football game that claimed the life of the U.S. Army member on Saturday in what some are calling a “pointless” stunt that proves the former Fox host is unfit to lead the armed forces.

According to The Daily Beast, the airman died at a Texas hospital after taking part in a “rappelling demonstration ahead of the University of Texas at San Antonio’s Salute to Armed Forces & Veterans game.”

“We are deeply saddened by the incident that occurred at the start of tonight’s football game. Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with the soldier who was affected, his family and his military colleagues,” a UT San Antonio spokesperson posted on Instagram Saturday evening.

The rappelling team was composed of members of the 6th Combat Training Squadron, Detachment 2, which trains air traffic controllers.

Reaction to the accident was immediate, with some suggesting that Hegesth was to blame for the airman’s death.

This horrific event comes as Hegseth is also under fire for the way he has mishandled the ongoing American conflict with Iran, allowing the stockpile of weapons systems such as Patriot missiles to drop to dangerously low levels. He and President Donald Trump are also being criticized by both Democrats and Republicans for underestimating how “easy” the United States would be able to make Iran concede to their demands. And in the process, the war has sent Trump’s approval ratings plunging to historic lows and threatening to cost the GOP control of both houses of Congress in the November midterm elections.

Here’s some of the other online commentary about the latest blood on Hegseth’s hands:

Idiots and fools are running the federal government, and their stupidity is literally killing people.
