According to chief White House economist Kevin Hassett, there’s no need for Americans to be worried about the sagging U.S. economy because so-called “President” Donald Trump knows what he’s doing and things aren’t nearly as bad as the “far-left media” claims.
Appearing on Fox News today, host Peter Doocy reminded Hassett that the latest polls show the public is not optimistic about how things are going with Trump in charge of the economy.
Specifically, Doocy noted, a mere 23% of American voters describe the economy as “excellent or good,” while only 12% describe their financial situation as “getting ahead,” and 62% believe grocery prices are a “major problem for their family.”
“I want to know which of these things sets off alarm bells inside the West Wing,” Doocy asked. “Do any of those make you think, ‘we’ve got a problem here?’”
No need to worry, Hassett assured Doocy, because those polls come from the “far-left media” and Democrats “hate President Trump.”
“Look, I’m the White House economist, and all I can say is that polls, over and over again, uh, harm, uh, impressions about the economy because they poll way too many Democrats,” Hassett contined. “It’s a really strong economy, and rather than talk about the strong economy, people want to talk about these silly polls.”
Doocy pushed back at Hasset.
“No far-left media here, Kevin! It’s the polls!” the host said. “Look, bringing drug prices down? Great! Very high DOW? Great! But would you admit, when you walk out of the White House, you ask anybody, somebody from in town, somebody from out of town, they would say that they think stuff is too expensive. Would you agree with that?”
“Well, sure, we had 20% inflation under Joe Biden… Prices are higher because of the huge inflation that we inherited from Joe Biden, but inflation is way down over the last three months!”
Even Fox's @pdoocy isn't buying Kevin Hassett's insistence that Americans' overwhelmingly negative view on the economy is due to pollsters polling "way too many Democrats"

Just one problem with those figures Hassett cited: They’re completely inaccurate.
Inflation at its highest under the Biden administration was 9.1% in June 2022, and remains elevated with Trump in the White House. Most notably, the price of fuel and food is way up, leading many to believe the U.S. is in a recession. The Federal Reserve is so worried that it recently hiked interest rates, the surest sign yet that the American economy is indeed showing all the signs of recession.
One thing’s certain: When even Fox News is saying the economy sucks, you know things are bad. They’re usually the biggest cheerleaders in the world for a Republican president.
Despite the lies and constant bullshit, even the White House knows they’re in the shit. And they clearly have no plan to mitigate the damage.
