Right-wing political commentator Scott Jennings got his words read back to him on-air during a segment on CNN and began stuttering like a fool during a discussion of Donald Trump’s disastrous foreign and military policy as it relates to Iran and its ongoing conflict with the United States.
When other panelists noted that Iran still has nuclear ambitions and the Trump administration has no idea what to do, Jennings proudly declared, “Their economy is in freefall. They have hyperinflation. Their leader is a cardboard cutout.”
“They’re not emboldened,” Jennings added. “The economic stranglehold we have on them has not emboldened anybody.”
That led host Abby Phillip to inquire, “Then why won’t they make a deal?”
“Because they’re religious fanatics who are trying to bring about the end of the world,” Jennings replied.
“Then you’re agreeing with Josh,” Phillip said, referencing a comment made by Democratic political strategist Joshua Doss, who was also on the panel and had said earlier in the discussion that Trump’s schizophrenic policy emboldened Iran.
“About what?” Jennings asked.
“Josh just said that Iran is emboldened. The regime is the same. They are now back against the wall,” Phillip said. “You just confirmed that they’re religious fanatics, so you’re saying nothing has really changed.”
Jennings began stuttering and finally managed to mutter, “Well, I mean, I-I-I have argued from the beginning it was going to be near impossible to make a deal with religious fanatics.”
“So, mission accomplished?” panelist Sarah Matthews asked.
Sensing that his thesis was in tatters, Jennings stopped speaking, clearly caught in his own flawed logic.
It’s so much fun watching Scott Jennings and other Trump apologists defend the indefensible while they put their spin on the truth. It makes them look almost as ridiculous as their Orange Savior.
