Though he’s been on the job for less than 24 hours, Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche has been put on notice by a prominent House Republican that he can either comply with the law or face “criminal liability.”
Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) congratulated Blanche on his promotion, but also warned him that there will be consequences if he attempts to stonewall on the issue of releasing all of the Justice Department’s files on the late sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein, who was BFFs with Donald Trump for decades.
On social media, Massie wrote, “Congratulations AG Blanche. Now you have 30 days to release the rest of the files before becoming criminally liable for failure to comply with the Epstein Files Transparency Act.”

Will Blanche comply with the law? Based on recent comments he’s made, that seems highly unlikely.
Speaking with Katie Miller on her podcast recently, Blanche said he had no idea what sort of Epstein “client list” people might be referring to, suggesting the DOJ doesn’t have any record of those who associated with Epstein or may have been involved in the sexual abuse of children.
If Blanche refuses to heed Massie’s warnings, it could result in the AG being held in contempt of Congress, which could lead to impeachment proceedings.
Tick tock, Todd. Better get to work on those files.
