Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer attempted to put a positive spin on the latest dismal job creation numbers, which show that U.S. payrolls fell by 92,000 in February, raising the unemployment rate to 4.4%, which led Fox host Stuart Varney to suggest there was no way to spin the news as anything but bad.
“Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer joins me now,” Varney announced. “Madam Secretary, 92,000 jobs out in February. Fewer jobs in healthcare, fewer jobs for information services because of AI, the weather hurt things, government employment down.”
“If you add it all up, it doesn’t look good for the Trump economy,” the host added.
“Yeah, I couldn’t agree with you,” the secretary replied. “I think we have to address the fact that this is not a good report in its raw numbers, but we have to also talk about why this possibly has happened, this snapshot in time.”
The reason for the job numbers, Chavez-DeRemer suggested, is winter storms and a health care strike in California.
“But overall, we’ve gained 60,000 new jobs over the last two months,” she claimed.
“And we did get revisions for December and January,” Varney noted. “69,000 fewer jobs created than previously reported. So can we rely on your numbers?”
“Yeah, absolutely,” Chavez-DeRemer said. “I think the president, that’s exactly what he was questioning early in the year when he took office.”
“We don’t like to see these revisions,” she added. “We want to make sure that we have integrity through BLS, we have integrity in the numbers.”
The U.S. economy is on the verge of crashing, the same way it did the first time Donald Trump was in the White House and mishandled the COVID pandemic, which led to massive unemployment and the shuttering of businesses across the country.
This time, Trump has cut taxes for billionaires, driven up the federal debt and deficit, hit consumers with idiotic tariffs, and started a war in the Middle East that could well lead to an extended military engagement at a time when the country needs to be focused on internal problems instead of who is running Iran.
Donald Trump was a failure as a businessman, and he has proven to be a failure as president of the United States. As his own father told him, he’s incapable of doing anything right, and his many deficiencies could lead this country into a deep recession.
Oh, and let’s not forget that the current president was best friends with a notorious sex trafficker who raped children.
Donald Trump belongs in prison, not the Oval Office.
