For some strange reason known only to him, Donald Trump — a.k.a. Dementia Don — decided to go on social media late Saturday and announce that he was sending a “great hospital boat to Greenland,” even though both of the hospital ships the United States controls are currently in dry dock, meaning they cannot be moved.
Here’s what Trump posted: “Working with the fantastic Governor of Louisiana, Jeff Landry, we are going to send a great hospital boat to Greenland to take care of the many people who are sick, and not being taken care of there. It’s on the way!!! President DJT”
As CNN notes, it’s not clear what prompted Trump’s blatant lie.
“It is unclear what Trump was referring to in his post. Greenland and Denmark have free, nationalized health care systems.”
“CNN has reached out to the White House, the Danish Embassy in Washington, Landry’s office, the Danish government and Greenland’s parliament for more details. The Pentagon referred questions to US Northern Command, which in turn referred questions to the US Navy. The Navy did not immediately respond to a request for comment.”
Even more embarrassing for Trump is that the ships are being worked on, which means they cannot be moved, which even Fox News pointed out.
As you’d expect, Trump’s strange offer was heavily mocked and repeatedly fact-checked.
Memo to members of Trump’s cabinet and every member of Congress: It’s called the 25th Amendment, and it’s way past time that you used it before this jackass sets the world on fire.
