With just a week left before the release of a documentary about First Lady Melania Trump, the White House is desperately trying to drum up interest in the film, even though it appears the public has absolutely no interest.
The Daily Beast reports that opening weekend earning projections suggest “Melania” is destined to be a humiliating flop of epic proportions.
“The vanity project, for which Jeff Bezos’ Amazon reportedly paid $40 million, is projected to make a measly $5 million on the weekend following its Jan. 30 release.”
“That is despite the studio spending an additional $35 million on marketing and opening the release to 27 different countries.”
Next Wednesday, the first lady will ring the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange, which seems like an odd choice of promotion for a gauzy cinematic tongue bath disguised as a documentary, especially since Mrs. Trump has accomplished almost nothing in her life other than marrying a rich American businessman and spawning a freakish looking son who seems destined to be the butt of a million jokes.

The administration even went so far as to include promos for “Melania” while her husband was in Davos for the World Economic Forum.
“Promotion for Melania’s movie also included posters for the movie that surfaced at Trump’s controversial Davos speaking engagements this week. The Washington Post reported that the U.S. delegation’s flight to Europe was filled to the brim with promotional material, including the Melania posters to prop up the movie’s advertising campaign to global elites.”
What exactly will “Melania” tell us about Mrs. Trump? Well, not much, other than portraying her in a favorable light, despite her many social faux pas, i.e. her reportedly asking, “Who gives a fuck about Christmas?” during the first Trump administration.
But according to publicists, the documentary will highlight how “Mrs. Trump has taken action to advance a results-driven agenda that is centered on the well-being of children in the United States and around the world.”
Translation: It’s not a documentary. It’s a work of fiction.
