White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller decided he’d attack immigration and immigrants by extoling some of the great inventions of the past century, but the reaction he received suggests he should have kept his bigoted thoughts to himself.
Here’s what Miller posted on Twitter/X:
“Someone should write an alternate historical novel where Americans are the first to master the automobile, the first in flight, the first to harness the atom, the first to land on the moon — but just keep going and never open our borders to the entire third world for sixty years.”
“For those who don’t know, the US had negative migration for the half century between the first nonstop transatlantic flight and the moon landing.”

For those who don’t know, the US had negative migration for the half century between the first nonstop transatlantic flight and the moon landing.

However, not only is Miller historically ignorant, he’s also engaging in blatantly racist language that has no grounding in truth, as many people were quick to remind him.
This is hilarious, considering that all of these things that he is listing were made possible because of immigrants and their kids. From the auto industry’s factory floor, to the scientists who built the bomb, to the engineers who designed the rockets that got us to the Moon,…

Karl Benz, widely credited to have created the first modern automobile, and Einstein, whose research was integral in harnessing the atom, were both not born in the United States. Read a book.

America kept inventing stuff! It’s the center of global innovation, disproportionately due to immigration! What planet are you living on?

The first automobile was German, the Manhattan Project was primarily the work of immigrant Budapest Jews (the Martians), and German immigrants of dubious political provenance likewise played an important role in getting the US to the Moon.

Henry Ford: Irish immigrant father, Belgian immigrant grandparents
Wright Bros: German immigrant grandfather
Oppenheimer: Prussian immigrant father, hired refugee scientists for Manhattan Project
Moon shot: Gather 'round whole I sing you of Werner Von Braun…
You are a pathetic liar:

Operation Paperclip was a secret United States intelligence program in which more than 1,600 German scientists, engineers, and technicians were taken from former Nazi Germany to the US for government employment after the end of World War II in Europe,…
Einstein, Wernher von Braun, Fermi, Szilard, Teller, Bethe, Ulam, Bohr (collaborator), Chandrasekhar, Gödel, von Neumann weren’t born in Alabama

And the founders behind Intel, Google, NVIDIA, and SpaceX’s workforce — America’s edge has always come stamped with foreign passports.
Lots of people are pointing out this little racist Nosferatu looking troll doesn’t know an overwhelming majority of our achievements came because of immigrants including our nuclear and space programs. He means white immigrants folks. He knows exactly what he’s saying. His people… https://t.co/dhQhJXmgcH
