Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem stammered and resorted to lying when asked this morning on “Meet the Press” why the Trump administration had approved the asylum request for accused D.C. shooter Rahmanullah Lakanwal, who allegedly shot two National Guard members last week who had been deployed to the nation’s capital by the Trump administration.
According to Noem, blame for the shootings can be placed on the Biden administration, which she claimed had put the United States into a “dangerous situation.”
“The vetting process happens when the person comes into the country, and Joe Biden completely did not vet any of those individuals, did not vet this individual!”
That’s when host Kristin Welker hit Noem with some uncomfortable facts.
“His asylum was approved in April of this year on the Trump administration’s watch, so just to be very clear, was there a vetting process in place to approve that asylum request?” Welker asked.
“Yeah, the vetting process all happened under Joe Biden’s administration,” Noem asserted.
That led Welker to push back, again reminding Noem that Lakanwal’s asylum request was approved under the second Trump administration, not Biden’s.
“But was he vetted when he was granted asylum, are you saying he wasn’t vetted when he was granted asylum?” Welker noted.
Momentarily losing the ability to speak English, Noem blurted out, “Vetting is – vetting is – vetting is happening when they come into the country, and that was completely abandoned under Joe Biden’s administration.”
Sorry, ICE Barbie, but all the lying and prevarication in the world cannot change the fact that the Trump administration granted asylum to the accused shooter. If they didn’t trust the vetting process used by the Biden team, why didn’t the new DHS leadership demand that all of the immigrants they inherited be vetted a second time?
Kristi Noem is a liar and a puppy murderer. This country is much less safe with her at the Department of Homeland Security.
