Donald Trump announced on Thursday evening that he was immediately suspending trade negotiations with Canada, and that move could also wind up being bad news for Game 1 of the 2025 World Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays, which will be held Friday evening in Toronto.
That was the topic of discussion on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” after Trump made the following social media posting in response to an ad featuring criticism of trade tariffs by the late former President Ronald Reagan:
“They only did this to interfere with the decision of the U.S. Supreme Court, and other courts. TARIFFS ARE VERY IMPORTANT TO THE NATIONAL SECURITY, AND ECONOMY, OF THE U.S.A. Based on their egregious behavior, ALL TRADE NEGOTIATIONS WITH CANADA ARE HEREBY TERMINATED.”

“This is the president United States throwing a fit over an ad and we should note the timing of this is pretty remarkable,” co-host Jonathan Lemire noted. “Because he gets angry about this today? What’s tonight? Tonight is game one of the World Series.”
“Where is that game being played? Toronto, Canada.”
“Oh boy,” co-host Mika Brzezinski responded.
Lemire added, “So there’s going to be — let’s watch the American national anthem likely get booed tonight like it was during that hockey tournament earlier in the spring.
“This is going to set the exact moment where we should be celebrating our friendship with Canada.”
No one knows how to alienate our closest allies like Dotard Don. The man could screw up a one-car funeral.
