While Donald Trump was busy patting himself on the back all day and claiming that he had helped create peace in the Middle East with a deal that led to the return of Israeli hostages once held by Hamas, a top government official in Israel made it clear that the word “peace” is far from what we can expect in the days ahead.
Defense Minister Israel Katz could not have been clearer with his declaration that bombing would not cease.
“Israel’s defense minister says the bombing will continue after they get their hostages back,” former MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan in a social media post. “Don’t say you weren’t warned.”

A translation of the tweet from Katz reads, “Israel’s great challenge after the phase of returning the hostages will be the destruction of all of Hamas’s terror tunnels in Gaza, directly by the [Israel Defense Forces] and through the international mechanism to be established under the leadership and supervision of the United States.”
However, Hamas is adamant that it will not allow the destruction of tunnels constructed in Gaza, which led Humza Yousaf, former first minister of Scotland to note, “They don’t even bother hiding it. Israel’s Defence Minister openly saying they intend to ignore Trump’s peace plan and bomb Gaza as soon as the hostages are returned. No doubt Israel will say they are targeting Hamas, just as they did when they killed 20,000 children in Gaza.”

Peace in the Middle East? That’s just another lie from Donald Trump and an attempt to distract from his own fading poll numbers in the United States.
