Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-LA) wants the American people to believe that he has shut down the House of Representatives and the U.S. government in coordination with Donald Trump for fiscal reasons instead of as a way to block the impending release of the Epstein files.
And he managed to say that with a straight face.
Appearing on NBC’s “Meet the Press” this morning, Johnson was confronted with an uncomfortable allegation by host Kristen Welker.
“And as you know, many Democrats have looked at your move. They say the House is not in session because you don’t want to swear in this newly elected member, the Congresswoman, Democratic Congresswoman from Arizona, who would be a critical vote to releasing the Epstein files.”
Johnson went into full hissy fit mode.
“It’s totally absurd! This has nothing to do with that. It’s another red herring.”
“The reason the government is closed is because Chuck Schumer and 43 of his Democrat colleagues in the Senate have decided now to vote multiple times to keep the government closed,” Johnson continued. “We need them to turn the lights back on so that everyone can do their work.”
“They’re doing this to get political cover because Chuck Schumer is afraid that he won’t win his next re-election bid to the Senate because it’s going to be challenged by a Marxist in New York because that’s the new popular thing out there.”
If it’s totally absurd, then why not call the House back into session and allow a vote on the release of the Epstein files? It would take no more than a couple of hours. And it would also remove the issue from public debate and clear Trump if, as he claims, his name isn’t in the documents.
Johnson is full of crap. He’s protecting a man that was once best friends with a notorious sexual trafficker who allegedly abused dozens of underage girls.
Release the Epstein files! The American people deserve to know if Trump was involved in his buddy’s horrific crimes.
