Trump’s Latest Explanation For Failing To End The Russia-Ukraine War Is Laughable Bullsh*t

On the campaign trail in 2024, Donald Trump repeatedly vowed that if elected, he would be able to end the war between Russia and Ukraine within 24 hours of taking office.

Oh, and he didn’t make that promise just once. As CNN fact-checker Daniel Dale notes, Trump uttered the same pledge on 53 occasions.

“Trump said on dozens of occasions, in an entirely serious tone, manner and context, that he would end the war in Ukraine either within 24 hours of his return to the White House or even sooner than that. He said over and over again, including at both presidential debates of 2024, that he would have the war “settled” when he was president-elect, before his inauguration.”

“A Friday search of the Roll Call Factbase database that catalogues Trump’s public remarks turned up at least 53 examples of Trump making such comments.”

However, when the Liar-in-Chief was asked at this week’s NATO summit about failing to make good on his promise regarding the Russia-Ukraine conflict, he offered a tepid and laughable excuse.

Austrian reporter Johannes Petrov reminded Trump, “You once said that you would end the Ukraine war in 24 hours. You later said you said that sarcastically.”

“Of course I said that sarcastically,” Trump replied, to which Petrov asked, “But you’ve been in office for five months and five days, why have you not been able to end the Ukraine war?”

Trump: “Vladimir Putin has been more difficult. Frankly, I had some problems with [Ukrainian President Volodymyr] Zelenskyy, you may have read about them. And it’s been more difficult than other wars.”

Translation: As usual, I was lying, and now I’ve been confronted with my own bullshit, so I have to blame someone else because nothing is ever my fault.

Donnie’s response set off a wave of laughter and derision online.

Trump has no solution to any of the problems that confront the United States on the domestic or foreign policy fronts. He’s a failure and a threat to the world.
