Despite winning the 2024 election, Donald Trump is once again trying to relitigate the 2020 election he lost to Joe Biden.
Yep, he’s back on that.
Bright and early this morning, Trump took to social media and spewed out the lie that he was robbed of victory in 2020.
“Whoever had control of the ‘AUTOPEN’ is looking to be a bigger and bigger scandal by the moment. It is a major part of the real crime, THAT THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION OF 2020 WAS RIGGED AND STOLEN! Millions and millions of people knew that, but the Radical Left Democrats waged a campaign of inoculation and innocence like none that had ever been waged before,” he wrote.
He then shifted to all caps.
“THIS IS WHY THE UNSELECT COMMITTEE OF POLITICAL THUGS, WHO WERE GIVEN A FULL AND COMPLETE PARDON BY THE PERSON WHO WIELDED THE NOW ILLEGALLY USED AUTOPEN, DELETED AND DESTROYED ALL EVIDENCE AND INFORMATION FROM THEIR CORRUPT AND VICIOUS WITCH HUNT AGAINST ME, AND MANY OTHER PEOPLE, WHOSE LIVES WERE COMPLETELY SHATTERED AND DESTROYED BY THIS HISTORICALLY CRIMINAL EVENT.”
The post ended with a flourish of fact-free rage.
“Remember, it all began with DIRTY COP James Comey, Obama, a hapless and cognitively impaired Sleepy Joe Biden, and my now very famous ACCUSATION that, ‘THEY SPIED ON MY CAMPAIGN!’ Whoever had control of the Autopen is just the beginning. The biggest crime of all is that THE 2020 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION WAS RIGGED! I (MAGA!) WON THE ELECTION BY MILLIONS OF VOTES, AND EVERYONE KNOWS IT. GOD BLESS AMERICA, FOR THE FIGHT HAS JUST BEGUN!!!”
All of that deserves a fact check.
Donald Trump did NOT win the 2020 election. He lost decisively to Joe Biden, with the final electoral vote count being 306 to 232.
Trump also lost to Biden in the popular vote. Biden garnered 81,282,916 votes to Trump’s 74,223,369
As for Trump’s accusations against the House Select Committee that investigated the January 6, 2020, insurrection at the US Capitol, those are also complete nonsense. The committee found that thousands of Trump supporters, riled up by him, stormed the seat of government and beat police officers, even threatening to “hang Mike Pence,” who was on Capitol Hill to certify the results of the election.
The impetus for Trump’s latest social media rant is likely the fact that he lost twice on Friday. His budget package was defeated in a House committee, and the Supreme Court ruled he cannot deport people under the guise of the Alien Enemies Act.
Things are going very badly for Donald Trump. You can expect more of his deranged online hissy fits in the days ahead.
