If you’ve ever read George Orwell’s classic dystopian novel 1984, you probably recall that the narrator, Winston Smith, notes that the face of the nation’s leader, Big Brother, is plastered everywhere, suggesting the government is always “watching.”
And now Big Brother has come to the United States in the form of Donald Trump, who is literally watching from outside the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Washington, DC.
There’s a new addition to the streetscape outside the Department of Agriculture building in Washington, D.C., causing a stir online,” The Independent reports.
“Looming down from the pillared front of the neo-classical facade is an enormous, brooding picture of President Donald Trump, adapted from his official presidential portrait.”
As you can see, a banner with Abraham Lincoln’s face is also on the building. However, Lincoln is widely seen as one of the greatest presidents in US history, a man who guided the country through a horrific civil war and kept the nation from disintegrating completely.
What exactly has Trump accomplished? He was found guilty of fraud, is accused of rape and sexual assault, lies like a rug, and is fond of bragging he’s a great businessman even though he has filed for bankruptcy four times.
The banner drew plenty of attention and derision on social media.
Portraits and statues of Josef Stalin were prominently displayed in public places, government buildings in the Soviet Union before de-Stalinization. Trumpworld is now emulating the Soviet Union with Washington starting to look like Moscow did with giant Donald Trump banners.

Big Brother is watching

Of course, to be completely accurate, the phrase “Big Brother is watching” needs to be changed when discussing Trump. How about “Tubby Orange Brother is watching”?
