Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) is one of the rising stars of the Democratic Party, and she says “there is one specific candidate” who is already consolidating support in the hopes of being the Democratic nominee for president in 2028.
During an appearance on the SiriusXM show “Urban View,” Crockett said she has no doubt the nominee will be male.
“It is this fear that the people within the party, within the primary system, will have about voting for a woman because every time we voted for a woman, we’ve lost. So far. And I think that that’s a natural fear because we just want to win.”
“So there’s a lot of people that are like, ‘You know what? Let’s go find the safest white boy we can find,’” Crockett continued. “I mean, I’m just saying.”
“Urban View” co-host Clay Cane agreed with Crockett, noting, “‘A white man’s got to do it.'” “We’re getting those callers.”
“No, for real,” Crockett said. “And to be clear, when we talk about them, I can tell you that there is one specific candidate. I had a donor on the phones with me telling me that all the donors are lining up behind that candidate.”
“So I can tell you — and I tell you — it’s not a black person nor a woman, ok?” she continued. “So they, quote unquote ‘they,’ have chosen, and when I say ‘they,’ it’s the same donors that most likely had their opinions about [former President] Joe Biden.”
Will Donald Trump run again in 2028, as he has suggested, even though the Constitution prohibits it? Crockett said he won’t.
“I know he thinks he’s running again, but that ain’t happening,” she said. “I don’t care what all is going on in this country, and I don’t care how many things we won’t say we are absolutely going to do, I am telling y’all with all confidence, he is not running for a third term.”

The names most often mentioned as possible 2028 Democratic presidential nominees are Gov. Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania, Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear, and California Gov. Gavin Newsom. But that list is likely to get much longer.
