Donald Trump’s Online Store Is Now Selling ‘Trump 2028’ Hats

Even though he is prohibited by the United States Constitution from running for a third term in office, Donald Trump is nonetheless actively hawking hats emblazoned with a logo that reads “TRUMP 2028.”

Newsweek found the new hats for sale online.

“The official Trump store is now selling red ‘Trump 2028’ hats for $50 amid repeated suggestions by President Donald Trump and his allies that he could run for a third term in 2028.”

There’s even a photo of Trump’s son, Eric, wearing one of the 2028 caps.

The 22nd Amendment to the Constitution clearly states, “No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once.”

Despite that, Trump has repeatedly claimed there are ways for him to serve a third term.

One of those would involve Vice President JD Vance running at the top of the 2028 Republican ticket with Trump as his VP. After the election, Vance could resign, and Trump would automatically become head of state.

Trump could also have the Constitution amended, but that would be a much more difficult process and require two-thirds of the states to sign on, which seems unlikely.

Only one president, Franklin D. Roosevelt, has served more than two terms in office. The 22nd Amendment was passed shortly after Roosevelt died in 1945 from a cerebral hemorrhage.

As you’d expect, the idea of Trump in office for a third time caused plenty of blowback on social media.
