On Friday, Donald Trump doubled down on his baseless online attacks against Kilmar Abrego Garcia, whom the administration illegally deported to a brutal prison camp in El Salvador last month.
According to Mediaite, “Abrego Garcia is currently incarcerated in a prison in El Salvador despite a 2019 court order barring his removal to that country. Lawyers for the Trump administration initially admitted that the Maryland father of three was sent to El Salvador due to an “administrative error,” but the president and his top officials say they will not retrieve him and claim Abrego Garcia is member of the notorious MS-13 gang. Last week, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld a lower court ruling instructing the administration to arrange his return to the U.S. Abrego Garcia has not been charged with a crime.”
Rather than admit the error made by his administration, Trump decided he’d instead share a digitally-altered photo of Abrego Garcia’s hands, which the so-called “president” claimed proved Abrego Garcia was a member of the notoriously violent MS-13 gang.
“This is the hand of the man that the Democrats feel should be brought back to the United States, because he is such ‘a fine and innocent person,'” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
“They said he is not a member of MS-13, even though he’s got MS-13 tattooed onto his knuckles, and two Highly Respected Courts found that he was a member of MS-13, beat up his wife, etc. I was elected to take bad people out of the United States, among other things. I must be allowed to do my job. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
Shortly after Trump made his dubious post, Matt Novak of Gizmodo debunked it with another photo.
Others then joined the online debate, reminding Trump that he has lied so easily so often that no one believes a word he says.
The person who belongs in prison isn’t Kilmar Abrego Garcia. It’s Donald Trump, who was found guilty of fraud in New York and is also accused of raping and sexually assaulting dozens of women. Will El Salvador take the Orange Menace if we ship him there?
