Union organizer and Democratic political strategist Chuck Rocha believes that Democrats have a golden opportunity to capitalize on the mistakes being made by “President” Donald Trump, and he’s urging them to seize the moment.
Appearing in CNN, Rocha was asked about Trump’s latest debacle: Pulling the nomination of GOP Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, who was poised to be US ambassador to the United Nations.
“(Stefanik) represents a district that Donald Trump won by 60 and the Democrat got 40,” Rocha noted. “There’s 128 other congressional seats around America that aren’t as good as that one is. That means that if… they’re worried about that race and I get it, it would be a special election and we show up in special elections. I’m not arguing that. But as somebody who helped flip four congressional seats in the last election, when Democrats got their butt kicked, from Republican to Democrat… congressional races are much different than this national thing that you see. So we move into the off year when you move into these races where you don’t have 60% turnout, 70% turnout, this is the opportunity for Democrats to make a comeback.”
