Fox Host Slams Trump Economic Adviser For Imposing ‘Tariffs On Screws’

Fox “News” host Maria Bartiromo put White House economic adviser Kevin Hassett on the hot seat during a discussion of the Trump administration’s crippling tariffs, accusing him raising the price of everything, including screws.

Those tariffs, Bartiromo asserted, will be felt in every sector of the economy.

Hassett admitted that he didn’t even know exactly what new tariffs Trump would impose on Monday.

“I can’t give you any forward-looking guidance on what’s going to happen this week,” Hassett said. “The president has got a heck of a lot of analysis before him, and he’s going to make the right choice, I’m sure.”

\”But what do you want to say to people who are questioning this as they see the stock market sell off?\” Baritomo inquired. \”How long would you expect this disruption to last? The Wall Street Journal out with a piece this morning.\”

“Tariffs on screws are already hitting manufacturers, meanwhile, meaning that they’re going to raise prices,” she added.

Hasset again tried to downplay the impact of new tariffs, suggesting that tax cuts would offset the economic pain.

“We’ve got the biggest, most pro-worker tax cut in history that’s moving forward at a breakneck speed,” he claimed. “And I think the naysayers will be proven wrong if they’re a little bit nervous about the blips from this week to next.”

“Well, there are also questions about the tax extensions,” Bartiromo noted. “How will the Congress get it done?”

“It feels like the odds of this passing sometime in the summer are extraordinarily high,” Hassett crowed. “It’s a golden age.”

“Well, look, if you’re talking about the middle of the summer, that we’ll actually see this begin to materialize, we may need it by that time because it feels like the economy is slowing,” Bartiromo said.

Tariffs are job killers. Every economist worth his weight will tell you that. And the retaliatory tariffs from Canada, the European Union, and Mexico will also be a burden on American consumers. But \”great businessman\” Donald Trump can\’t be bothered with facts. He\’s far too busy trying to pretend that he has some special knowledge of economics that others simply can\’t understand. Considering the trail of bankruptcies and failed business ventures that he\’s been a part of.

Let a fool run the economy. What could possibly go wrong?
